Eric Tumwesigye is a Gender and Development Specialist with experience of over 10 years in promotion of equitable development at both universities and international development organisations.

He holds a Master of Philosophy in Gender and Development from the University of Bergen, Norway and a Bachelor’s Degree in Gender and Economics of Makerere University.

His key interest area and expertise is in the promotion of the specific issues of women, girls, youth, and other socioeconomic disadvantaged groups in the government planning and budgeting processes.

Eric brings profound experience to the Gender Mainstreaming Directorate in managing gender mainstreaming programmes and building capacities for government technical staff in gender and equity budgeting. He has served outside Makerere University as a consultant with World Bank; United Nations Development Programme; UN Women; Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development; Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development; Ministry of Water and Environment; and Local Governments in Uganda.

He is responsible for the activities of the Gender Mainstreaming Directorate under the Female Scholarship Foundation. Such activities include; Formulating plans and budgets, implementing the plans and budgets, undertaking the Carnegie Scholars Forum on a regular basis, managing the production of publications for the Carnegie Corporation of New York FSF Component, monitoring the academic and social performance of the Carnegie Scholars, ensuring regular updates of the Carnegie Corporation of New York FSF Component of the Gender Mainstreaming Directorate Website, and reporting.
