Public Dialogue on Gender Based Violence

Public Dilogue has been organised to take place on 30th November 2018 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Freedom Square

The Gender Mainstreaming Directorate in partnership with Communication for Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) with financial support from UN Women has organized activities during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence (GBV) scheduled to take place between 29th and 30th November, 2018.

The activities include a GBV one stop center at Makerere University freedom square that will attract various stakeholders (UN Agencies, government agencies, universities, CSOs, and private sector) working on prevention and response to GBV in Uganda; and a public Dialogue on Ending Gender Based Violence in Institutions of Learning and places of work.  On 29th and 30th November, Stakeholders will exhibit various services and products on GBV prevention and response to University staff, students and stakeholders.  There will be sessions for students on GBV conducted by Medical Doctors, Lawyers, and counselors from the participating institutions. Stakeholders will have an opportunity to sign up as HeForShe champions.  On 30th November, 2018, stakeholders will converge in the Freedom Square at 2.00 pm for a dialogue on ending Gender Based Violence in Institutions of Learning and places of work. The Dialogue will be attended by students and staff from Makerere University, representatives of various CSOs, UN Agencies, Government representatives, and student representatives from 8 universities in Uganda.

As partners, we are inviting you to participate in the GBV one stop center at Makerere University freedom square on 29 & and 30th November, 2018. We shall provide tents, tables, chairs, a public address system, name tags and a snack for the persons working on the institutions’ tables for the two days. We have secured sufficient space and would therefore want to encourage all participating organizations to come with manuals, reports, posters, fliers, art pieces, pull-up banners, hanging banners, flying banners, t-shirts, legal advisors, counselors, videos, documentaries, among others to share with the stakeholders for the two days.
